Pokémon Go now uses #OpenStreetMap globally.

Here's hoping that the players are not going to abuse it more and more. The last time, when people were frustrated that they were not able to catch certain mons, there was vandalism and deliberate wrong edits.

@AkuAnakTimur Are you sure they use globally? I know many PoGo players *believed* they were, and I heard they use in Korea or something.

Some players (according to TheSilphRoad subreddit) has claimed that they do see changes in their display maps; for example, Australian Pokemon Go players said that they're seeing map data from OSM rather than Google.

The credits used to say only OSM data was used to display only the South Korean map. By the way, the mandatory app update was rolled out today.
