I wonder is there any metric which the UK train network does better than say the German train network?

@ebel shareholder profit as a percentage of turnover?

@_monkey Well shareholders don't get profits. Either the company gets profits, or shareholders get dividends. But I wonder if DB outperforms the UK train network even in that way!

@_monkey obviously you can buy shares in a UK train company, and it can go up in price and you get money for that, and you can't do that with nationalised, non-publically traded, companies. But that sort of edge metric is obviously doesn't apply

@ebel poor choice of words on my part. the payout being the dividends really. I was being (somewhat) flippant.
