hello I'd like to file a bug report against "futurism"

what i expected: dreaming about the potential of humanity. fully automated luxury gay space communism. the abolition of whiteness, cisness, maleness, and neurotypicality

what i got: boring men vapidly fawning over elom nusk

@draco ah, yes, and I forgot the language barrier. None of us speak any dialect. High German is considered haughty there.

Visited my mom and grandma for Christmas. The neighbors in the village where they live still hates them over 25 years after they moved there because our family never conformed to patriarchal rules and to their culture (my mom and my grandma don't drink and recently, they went mostly vegan) - and worse, we're not born there. I think I found another puzzle piece of why I feel like a monster sometimes.

Share your ugly #bujo pictures and save a poor soul from journaling burnout!

I mean, I can't even point people to pictures of minimalist bullet journals because even those tend to be unnaturally pretty. >.>

I literally didn't even think about layouts until after several (6+?) months of use. My original bujo is ugly as hell (I was using an old blank Moleskine, it was a nightmare), and you know what? It worked perfectly. It helped me get organized and get things done and keep track of several aspects of my life.

Bullet journals DO NOT HAVE TO BE PRETTY. They just need to work. The basic system is good enough for a lot of people, especially those who are easily overwhelmed.

Sorry for the rant. >.>

It drives me crazy that people think the #bulletjournal system is complicated because of layouts.

YOU DO NOT NEED LAYOUTS TO USE A #BUJO

YOU CAN JUST HAVE UGLY TO-DO LISTS

I PROMISE THAT'S OKAY

RT @zenalbatross OkCupid is a good reminder that we need to abandon this stupid idea that compulsory, ambient disclosure of names = “authenticity”

I don’t walk into a bar with my name visible to every creepy dude who shoots me a glance — why should dating online be any different?

Again, it is grey and short day, but remember that the Sun has already crossed the point where it seemingly stands at right angle above the Tropic of Capicorn, beginning its voyage back towards the center of the sky.

In other words: Spring is coming.

OkCupid announcing dropping pseudonyms, enforcing a "real name" policy: theblog.okcupid.com/an-open-le I wouldn't be surprised if there is enough backlash against this to make them reconsider.

While I really like the basic idea of matching people by questionnaires, I'm not thrilled by what seems like a monopoly on this mechanism by OkCupid.

Let's decentralize it. I've myself played a bit with building a small prototype (of questionable code quality & data format): github.com/plomlompom/multicho More ideas?

@Jules I love Star Trek: Discovery. First two episodes are quite somber, but from E03 on, it's Star Trek at the best it's ever been for me.

I recently rewatched Star Trek: Voyager, which has always been a favorite of mine, so if you haven't seen it yet, I recommend it.

Another movie I enjoyed was "Divergent". There are two sequels - "Allegiant" and "Insurgent" - but I didn't see them yet.

If you enjoy something grittier, the "Ghost in the shell" anime series is great, too.

@pixelpaperyarn at home :) I made an opulent dinner and enjoyed it with my wife, talking about things we're grateful for and our wishes for the coming year. We also set a plate and a glass for the ancestors.

my partner just informed me of this:

On a single page in a 13th century Middle English manuscript the author spelled "chickens" all the following ways.

chekyns
chekens
chekynnes
chekennes
chykynnes
chykyns
chykens

Happy Solstice, everyone!
