#musicediting did some very basic harmonic analysis on a piece that's related to the one I'm working on and holy moly is this hard or else I'm totally out of training. I only did 3 of about 7 pages. And I didn't even do fully-fledged functional analysis or structural charts or fancy stuff like that and it's only bassoon with piano accompaniment. Again I regret that I lost the best lecture script ever on modulation from my first harmony teacher. Could use brushing up my knowledge there.

@schokopflaster mein Alltag ist zu einem nennenswerten Teil englischsprachig, und oft schreibe ich deshalb spontan auf Englisch - je nachdem auch, in welcher Sprache ich gerade mehr "drin" bin. Ich versuche, zweisprachig zu posten, wenn ich die Löffel habe.

Western music notation is messy. You can tell it's a system that evolved over a little more than, let's say, 1200 years and has a certain logic to it, but also a ton of "yeah, somehow we need to account for 12 semitones, but it's really only built for a seven-tone scale, so we invented all those fancy accidentals", but sometimes you notice the system is used in ways it wasn't intended for.
And then we get to the point where pile on accentuation and articulation marks because nowadays we write stuff like that explicitly, whereas 300 years ago it was kinda convention to play things in certain ways and everyone knew them.
My work project is dragging slooowly. Too much detail work. But at least the cat is sleeping peacefully, after doing her usual bit of annoying me, asking for pets and play and sitting on my keyboard (because nothing gets the h00mins attention like sitting on the keyboard).

Anyone else who feels like they can't adult in pyjamas? I always have to get dressed enough to a level of "I could leave the house like this" before I feel like I can do "productive" things, even if I don't actually have to leave the house for them.

@Angle (oh, I just remembered that Fitocracy does provide training plans and coachin, but most are a premium feature.)
@Angle oh, and if you enjoy a gamified, social approach to tracking exercise, check out Fitocracy. They don't provide workouts *per se*, but I find it very motivating. A couple times, I got valuable advice from other users.
There's a bit of diet talk every now and then, but I manage to avoid it pretty much.
@Angle uh, watch out for outlet/sales? Sorry I can't come up with anything more helpful. I got my New Balance's at a bargain price in an outlet store, but I started with running shoes from a local discounter and I ran in shoes from the supermarket for several years.
Also, if you happen to have anything resembling breasts, a good, well-fitting (on the snug side), extra-firm sports bra is totally worth it.
@Angle I'm a fan of the You Are Your Own Gym app. Sadly, not free, but I keep coming back to it; challenging, but well- explained exercises. Also, you can customize the training plan a lot, e.g. swap exercises you don't manage to do yet for easier variations.
