Fehu. Sound: f. Traditional meaning: cattle, especially cows.
Modern interpretation: Material resources, e.g. money, wealth. The materials needed for a project; your assets; stuff you can put to use.
Upside down: Lack of resources (e.g. being flat out broke), or no access to them.
#runes Second, read (esoteric) rune books with a sound dose of criticism. There's a lot of BS uncritically passed around as "old tradition" that's at most a century old, possibly sprung from some fabulations of early 20th century racist writers. Developing a good bs detector in that field takes time and some reading, but it's well worth the work.
Ok, I thought of a few caveats regarding that #runes series.
First off, what I will post here is a part of my own practice, learnt over many years from a multitude of sources of varying trustworthiness - namely books and a few close friends. Yes, it will be largely esoteric and a modern interpretation. This is my personal practice and meant as an example of how you can approach the runes, or a very basic primer. Do your own research!

I work with the Elder Futhark exclusively, and I was thinking of writing one toot about each rune every day for 24 days. But I'm also ready to answer rune questions. (I might take some time, though, busybody that I am.) Can't offer any readings ATM, though, b/c I still have to replace my lost rune set :(
Also finally resolved in my own head that mastodon isn't about avoiding politics. CWs aren't about avoiding politics.
Taking care with content is about managing risk to others so that the effort to repair a damaged world doesn't deteriorate into panic, aggression or despair.
CWs seem like a small good step towards respecting that the state of global politics affects us deeply. It's not a sideshow.
A reminder about political terminology:
To Marxists, 'liberal' means (and has always meant) 'centrist capital-friendly social democrat'
To all American politicians pre-1970s, 'liberal' meant 'supporter of democracy (& post-1930s, welfare state) instead of totalitarianism'
To US Republicans post-1970s, 'liberal' means 'radical black feminist Bolshevik'
To economists and some non-US politicians, 'liberal' (in US, 'neoliberal') means 'radical conservative, pro-private capital, anti-regulation'

@kara_dreamer feels familiar. It's actually hard for me to respect my wife's request "Don't do the dishes, I will do them". Which is funny bc I dislike doing dishes and she rather likes it. But then, her workload tends to get in the way.

So I asked the wife to teach me a little math every now and then. Right now, we're doing basic analysis.
Math used to be the one subject in school that gave me nightmares. I used to be convinced that I suck at it, starting in grade 3. When we started, I didn't remember much high-school math.
I'm so grateful that she not only does that, but really enjoys teaching me. And it's so liberating to lose my fear of calculation and numbers and actually *enjoy* solving equations.
What makes it work for me: I am allowed to write things out as detailed and long-form as I need to, and I am never under any kind of time pressure.
TIL: Ein verkaterter Latissimus kann schweinisch weh tun. Ich hab's gestern mit dem Training übertrieben :/ Ausruhen hilft. Werde jetzt gleich mal schmerzstillende Salbe drauf schmieren. Will aufpassen, dass ich kein Suchtverhalten bzgl. Sport entwickle, das soll schließlich Spaß sein, nicht zwanghaft.

But I feel like my practice has become so highly special and individual and I can't speak for other people.
