Main ingredients: 3 sticks of cinnamon, roughly 8cm of thin ginger (finely sliced), 7-8 cloves.
Then I cracked a bunch of black peppercorns, cardamom pods and ½tsp of fennel seeds in a mortar and pestle. Threw in 2 oooold bird's eye chillies and some star anise. Boiled in 1½ liters of water for an hour. Tastes best lightly sweetened.
