Had one of those discussions with one of the web coders today (cisdude) about abandoning the "form of address" field, or at least making it non-mandatory, in a web form (in German, we have "Frau" (Ms) or "Herr" (Mr)). The thing has unnerved me for years. "But then we will not know how to address people!!", he ventured ... well. Dude. I am a trained specialist in natural language. I have some advice for you. m(
@Juni now that I read this toot again, it reminds me very much of a situation in an online marketing startup where I worked for a few years... Colleagues wouldn't let me proofread email templates and kept sending emails with comma and other egregious errors. I have an M.A. in German literature. But brogrammer dudes seem to be oblivious about knowledge and even expertise about such things as language.
