I noticed that "Illusion" by #VNVNation has almost 4,000,000 listens on Spotify. Okay... it's a good pop song which I love to listen to on repeat when I want to cry a river, but still.
And here's "Nemesis" beating "Beloved" by almost 300,000 listens? What's with that?!?
I don't want to say exactly what I'm thinking because I don't like being judgmental about people's tastes in music, but I'm kind of shocked. "Illusion" is elementary and cliché relative to, say, every song on "Empires". 😕

@draco Agreed! Especially when it's emotional. I guess it's disappointing when a band has so much music that is well-crafted, deep, nuanced and interesting and people still prefer the obvious.
Maybe, and this is encouraging, maybe these songs represent the crossover into the musical tastes of people who otherwise don't listen to this band. I'm going to cling to that thought. 🙂
