@ng0 for me, it was a little better, because I had shifted most activity to twitter already when facebook threw me out. most people were on both platforms. so they could use twitter instead.
only 5 people were actually facebook-only-contacts, and I manage to stay in contact with everyone without facebook. it's less, but it's possible!
but it's the same, I knew most people before joining.

@ng0 I know, I liked the metaphor for the "you have to have it" aspect. I joined facebook back then, after I was constantly pressured to do it. people said "one could not stay in touch with me" without it.
people were sitting around a table and talk about nothing else than what happened in their facebook feed.
of course it's a real problem to stay in touch, but I found out that there is no such thing as "I can only communicate over FB". even my mom can call me or write me an email.
I miss some people really, but I can't put up with facebook's toxicity any more, even if that means we stay in touch less.

#DeleteFacebook I think @seanmunger compared facebook to nuclear weapons: you need an account on there because if you haven't, it puts you at a disatvantage when everyone else has one.
I quit facebook long ago, when they enforced their "real name" policy on me and threw me out. First I tried another nickname, but then I thought: why should I give them that power over me and my social networks again? So I left and I survived! life is even so much better without this poison.

Hi @starbreaker, Im one one of the new folks here. I am blind and thefore use this platform with a screenreader. One important question: I can't serch for people or things like a hashtag. I can fill in what ever i want in the field, but get no results. May an accessibilityproblem be the reason?
