but what they described is also a reality - I think it has been a centuries-old-deeply-ingrained culture of heterosexual sex in patriarchy. it is not structured in a way that everyone involved is having fun.

I'm going to inhale some steam, and treat my cough with all the good things at once and I'm optimistic, I'm feeling much better today.

@Reinderdijkhuis I have this cold at the moment, that started with a dry cough, then fever, and the cough getting better and now I'm back with a dry cough like on day one. super weird and annoying! I had a doc listen to my lungs yesterday though, and they were fine!

but I heard a few people say that this current cough that is going around is the worst..

@Reinderdijkhuis yeah. the best thing would be that insurance would just pay for the better vaccines, but it's always the same old..

@Reinderdijkhuis I don't know, I don't believe in eradicating epidemics any more, especially not for a virus like that.

but I do agree that it's much too accepted and even if the thing can't be eradicated, it would be interesting why we as a culture think we have to put up with it in the dimension it is happening every year and just accept the death toll.

@Reinderdijkhuis I don't know, you're in the netherlands, right? in germany, we have a "3 type" and a "4 type" shot available, the first one protects against 3 most common types and is covered by health insurance, and the other one has one more type included, and that type seems to be the culprit this year..

however, this is not the first time we have that problem in germany, public health insurance wants to save costs covering cheaper vaccines.

@Reinderdijkhuis argh, I hope you're not getting pneumonia.

I read that the current flu wave is (at least in germany) hitting really hard because the virus type is not included in the flu shot that public health insurance covers, the "better" flu shot which is more expensive would protect against it.. but how many people can afford it?

a thing that's bad about the book "and the band played on" by randy shilts is the story about "patient zero" and how he had deliberately spread the virus to other people. it seems that there was never a "patient zero" and that shilts demonized the person in his book.
