I wish lgbtq+ knitting/crafting groups existed
@moondunes I'm actually part of one :D
@distelfliege that sounds really awesome! what is it like??? :000 I mean...its probably like a normal group but like- I would think that it would be a far more comfortable space to knit and such without worrying about closeminded people.
@moondunes yes, we meet twice a month in a nice leftist cafe and it's exactly like that.. it's like a regular group, we talk about everyday stuff and such, but it's nice knowing that you're not weird in this group because being outside of the norm is normal there ;)
@moondunes my experience in the knitting world is that there are a lot of LGBT* people in the community :)
especially the knitters who meet over the internet and ravelry.
@moondunes I think the old ladies' groups are also a thing where I live, and there are of course knitters who talk about their husband and kids all the time, there's nothing wrong with living like that, but acting like that's the "normal" way to live is always a no-no for me..
I left some knitting related facebook groups because it got too annoying for me!
@distelfliege ahhh, that explains it! I should join some groups on ravelry- my big thing is following knitting blogs to read (I read about knitting even before I managed to start knitting!), and I've never found a good lgbtq one, and rl knitting groups...seem to be few and far in between where I live. And filled with old ladies.
