Turns out anti-vaccine bullshit from a close friend pisses me off more than the same from a random idiot on the internet.

@distelfliege I mean I was just venting on my worry about catching pneumonia on day 6 of the flu and finding out that the things you can do to prevent it are all things you need to do before catching flu, including getting the flu shot and a specific pneumonia vaccination I've qualified for all my life that I didn't know existed. The LAST thing I wanted to hear was that someone's doctor believes the flu shot is crap.

I read that the current flu wave is (at least in germany) hitting really hard because the virus type is not included in the flu shot that public health insurance covers, the "better" flu shot which is more expensive would protect against it.. but how many people can afford it?

@distelfliege See I didn't even know there was a 'better' shot. I'd have been happy to pay for that.

@Reinderdijkhuis I don't know, you're in the netherlands, right? in germany, we have a "3 type" and a "4 type" shot available, the first one protects against 3 most common types and is covered by health insurance, and the other one has one more type included, and that type seems to be the culprit this year..

however, this is not the first time we have that problem in germany, public health insurance wants to save costs covering cheaper vaccines.
