Turns out anti-vaccine bullshit from a close friend pisses me off more than the same from a random idiot on the internet.

@distelfliege I mean I was just venting on my worry about catching pneumonia on day 6 of the flu and finding out that the things you can do to prevent it are all things you need to do before catching flu, including getting the flu shot and a specific pneumonia vaccination I've qualified for all my life that I didn't know existed. The LAST thing I wanted to hear was that someone's doctor believes the flu shot is crap.
@distelfliege I think part of it comes from the naturalistic fallacy - that because so many people get the flu, we should accept that the flu even exists. Meanwhile I wonder how much of a foothold new epidemics would even get if the shot was universal and mandatory, with strictly-vetted medical exceptions only.
@distelfliege I know it's not that easy to eradicate a fast-mutating RNA virus but why aren't we even trying? What would happen if we declared influenza, a killer disease (specifically, a killer of people like me), Worldwide Public Enemy Number 1 and threw everything we could at it for a generation?
