i dont get those US discussions about #guncontrol is bad because it is keeping marginalized ppl from being able to defend themselves.

self-defence of marginalized people has always been criminalized and suppressed with extreme state violence. think of the black panthers.

statistically, the people who suffer from gun violence are marginalized people. guns will be turned against them and if not, they will be taken from them.

if a marginalized person needs to arm themselves for self defense there will be likely state repression - be it legal or not for them to carry the gun.

so imo make guns illegal for all people and things are going to be overall better. it makes no difference for marginalized folks and the white majority would be less armed. win.

its a pity the police are allowed to carry guns though.

@distelfliege It's not a win because it would invariably be applied in a racist fashion no matter what the law is. This government already makes and applies a great number of laws in a racist fashion. The correct solution is to address the root causes of the violence, which are white supremacy, misogyny, and male fragility
