We, the admins, do not want your personal contact information. The suggestion
-- only if you feel comfortable -- is to give *someone you trust* your
information, and then make that person known using the #ICE or #ECU hashtags.
This way if there's ever a concern for your safety, people have a contact
point.

And I agree, I was... not super comfortable with the degree of information that was publicly accessible.

@nobody @tojo This is sort of a broad question, but I'll do my best! Maybe you know this part already but:
A "bot" is really something that posts to Mastodon (on a schedule) or (when replied to). The second is a little more complicated and I haven't done it yet.
So the simplest bot would be a script that makes an api call. If it works when you do it manually a few times you could automate it with a crontab entry.
Like a few people have said, the "api call" part can be simplified with a library in the language of your choice, if it exists.
Does that help as a start?
