good thoughts, I do however think that the reason why I like mastodon is because it doesn't feel like a curated platform to set up shop on. I don't feel much need to advertise my poetry here, I would much rather just share some pieces I've written without thinking about my follower platform.
The saddest thing about the birdsite for me was that since 2013+ interacting with other writers were like a polite meet and greet at a bookshop signing, you're expected to be a paying audience to get some time, and I liked that less and less. I loved twitter for the conversations, not for the market hall feel.
