Possible Mastodon use case for a small private instance: a group of writers (or indeed a group of anyones, but I'm thinking writers for now) can collaborate and cooperate and/or produce microfic either for their own entertainment or public consumption. Could be a very interesting way to tell a story.

Come to think of it, text turn-based roleplay folks might also find a use case there - in-character accounts for character development maybe? Huh. I dunno. This got away from me a bit.

@lex_jay back in the days I used to roleplay in chat/forums on msn, that's how I got into using the internet tbh, it would be cool.

@croxus We're of similar age and I remember that too -- yahoo, as well. I still have writer friends who swear by roleplay as an exercise in character development and world building, albeit jointly with others.
