One of the things I'm really enjoying about Mastodon is that, since it's still so new and small, it's very easy for me to cut out passive aggressive/inactive writing from my timeline swiftly.
Where I'm at with my activism and energy at this point in my life is that if I've got a problem with someone, I talk to them. This goes well with a FOSS project like Mastodon, where dev work is visible and maintainers are accessible and responsive.
Folks just kinda blastin' into the federated timeline...good for you I guess? But I mute you and question the person I follow who channeled you into my life.
TL;DR don't argue with people who aren't there, kids!

OK I know everyone is tired about the discussions on politics and all the other things so here have a #happy 🦊 picture and if you can please share it for the sake of everyone's psyche. We need things like that.

When some people talk about filter bubbles and how it's good to burst them, they are almost always speaking in favor of centrism. "A person on the left should read right-leaning thought that they didn't agree with." But what about a left-learning person reading even-more-radical left-wing thought? That is still exposing yourself to new/uncomfortable ideas that challenge your beliefs.
I just find it curious that some people think "bursting your filter bubble" naturally lends itself to centrism.
@almarid Question for whoever the botmaker is...have you considered having the bot post unlisted by default?

What if instead of talking about "women in tech" we talked about "women seizing the means of production and dismantling the VC system"
@rustyk5 I think it's definitely more work to copy a link and paste it and talk shit about it than embedded toots

@555uhz I don't know what this means but I'm pretty sure it's 80s military gay code.
