Being a Socialist in corporate America is pretty soul crushing. Any attempts at spreading class consciousness are met with side-eye at best, or (usually) mountains of reactionary propaganda.

Even simple things like "I did the math, this company makes 100x what they pay us off the work we do" is met with "well they need to keep the lights on" or something similarly frustrating.

The thing about the "Mastodon is taking over the fediverse" narrative is that it echoes the long history of ugly narratives around women/queer people "taking over" nerd spaces and it can be weaponised in the same way.
