I think it's pretty awful to mock older people for being slow at things we grew up with. For watching their friends suffer more and more as they grow older, and feeling helpless when they lose more and more of them each year. For becoming aware of their own mortality, having to process it all day by day.

That all takes its toll, friends. So be kind.

I studied urban planning in San Francisco, and I just gotta say, the answer to our urban transportation problems is not self driving cars or 'ridesharing' taxis, all of those things are the way that established tech cos attempts to replace and commodify public services. The real answer is less car traffic, more (and more accessible) busses and trains, and shared public transport priority streets with bike and ped priority streets too. And affordable tickets + paid operators of vehicles.

Content isn't "free" when there are ads. The longer I work in advertising, the more this idea that content w/ads is "Free" bothers me. It's not free at all. You're paying for it with your time and attention to sponsored content, and how that content then drives you to take actions. It's not "free."

@cypnk however, one thing:

radicals *need* to learn to use free software, and to thwart the surveillance dragnet. That's not a question of morality like most free software stuff is, it's a question of necessity, and too much organizing is still over corporate channels well-monitored by three-letter-agencies.
