yeah, there is a subtle difference between the tacticle bump and the linear switches. some places also sell switch testers so you can try all the varieties to see which matches your feeling and sound needs.

@troubleMoney i had heard of cherry, but the rest is all new and interesting! I do use emacs, so i will take note of the n-key rollover.

@cooler_ranch Note that shipping a Unicomp board out of the US is often expensive (unless The Keyboard Company stocks the model you want).

I would prefer the legend to match the OS, but i used to work with a windows keyboard on OSX and it's totally fine.

I can tolerate some noise if it's the 'right' kind of noise, but overall I wouldn't want it very loud (working remote and often pair programming on video chat).

I live in the US, fwiw.

@cooler_ranch So that's a problem - by modern standards, both of my recommendations would be considered "very loud".

I'm really not a fan of the Matias "quiet click" switches, so the Quiet Pro isn't what I'd recommend - I honestly prefer average rubber domes over that keyboard.

Cherry MX blue (or a clone) may be a better bet, but the tactile quality is nowhere near as good as Alps (Matias) or buckling spring designs.

@cooler_ranch Note that the Tactile Pro 4s are in the Mac section, not the keyboard section, usually, if you want to try that. They also won't have anything Unicomp as far as I'm aware, and I don't think they have anything Topre, but they'll have a wide array of Cherry-based (and clones) stuff to try.

@bhtooefr ok! This is really useful to know. From the sound of your info and a few others, Cherry blue are the switches i suspect i would want, but i would try things out to find what i truly prefer.

At least my local Micro Center has a sampler board in the keyboard section, as well, with Cherry blue, brown, red, and black switches installed.
