@nergdron yeah. I have friends who've had partners overdo it and wound up spreading themselves too thin - except they refused to admit it or communicate about it, which is obviously not the right choice. Definitely best to be honest about it and try to figure out how best to ration your energy.

my hips and shoulders probably also have MDI but those aren't worth correcting, they're not doing the bad popping thing and even if they did correct them they'd just destabilize again in a few years
so I should just, uh, not do things that make my joints unhappy, was his only suggestion :p
well, also keep doing joint strengthening exercises so the muscle tone will help make up for the mushy ligaments

@nergdron oh noooo I know that feel and it is not fun ):

SO his recommended solution is called the 'sauve kapajii procedure', which involves cutting out a lower chunk of the distal and using it to graft the ends of the 2 bones together so they'll stop floating around and move like they're supposed to; and then they'll throw some screws in there for good measure

they don't even replace the missing chunk of distal, apparently it just hangs out with a piece missing and it's NBD

so apparently the issue is in fact multidirectional instability due to my crappy ligaments not having enough collagen

so they're too stretchy and don't hold the 2 wrist bones, the distal and ulna, together properly; so they've drifted apart and the distal is just like flopping around getting stuck on the ulna, thanks ligaments

he held my wrist/forearm straight while pushing my hand side to side and yeah that thing is not screwed on right. I tried it on my partner just now and his barely moved at all and mine's like 'yeah sure whatever'

@nergdron depends how much spare time you have... :p I've had 2-3 partners at a time and found it too much after a while, but I also have like 0 emotional energy most of the time so that might just be a Me Thing.

today was a pretty okay day but I was grumpy a lot anyway

not in an 'actively angry' way so much as a 'noticing myself grumbling and getting irritated about minor bullshit followed by apathy and a mood drop once I stopped Doing Things and my mind was no longer occupied' way

I blame weed, because I ran out and my brain chemistry is probably messed up like usual when I run out
by which I mean I blame me for smoking a lot of weed, but same shit

but I got a bottle of my favorite wine and it is yummy and cheering me up~

@gourgou this is true, being exempt from mansplaining is ideal
fortunately the majority of people I work with are women so all our meetings are very cheerful and friendly and everyone gets along ;p

i always end up explaining all the web rationale stuff bc i am just... better at it

just had a meeting with a client for a new project i'll be taking on and she doesn't have any web experience, so we were teaching her the terms and i joked that the web words make you "sound smart in meetings, which is my favourite thing"
and she's like "yeah, you were just rattling off all that information so easily, I'm like 'she sounds so badass!'"

badass is not typically a word associated with information architecture design and web content optimization but I'll Take It

"hey alex can you put these web stats in the powerpoint presentation after sean or jess review them"
"yeah actually i can review them my fucking self because i've been doing this for 5 years but thanks"

another day, another round of my colleagues forgetting that I'm more qualified to analyze web stats than they are
