@Blackhawke I've got a Sony RX100 III, which I very much like. Good quality, lots of good features, and great for close-up perspective shots - it has pretty decent macro for its quality range, which is ideal since those are my favourite to take :D I hadn't done any serious photography since the high school class and finally invested when I realized how much I enjoyed it even with just a cellphone camera. Really glad I did.

I just wrote an actual poem for the first time in probably years and I have no idea if it's good but also I don't really care because it feels so nice to have words again

@Blackhawke alas, I only had access to a darkroom (or film camera) through my high school photography class - which is more than most get, I guess. I really enjoyed it and would love to do it again - I kept my best pieces and am pretty proud of them - but I don't have access to a darkroom now ):

@Blackhawke oh I've done that too, in high school - though not with colored film; we only shot in black and white for darkroom work and used a dye wash post-development. took a lot longer, though :p

@gcupc my parents definitely tried very hard. it took them a lot of therapy to get this far :p

tomorrow we are probably going to meditate more and then have an Art Afternoon and I'll teach them calligraphy and we'll write out quotes that we find meaningful because we're a bunch of corny new-age hippies

anyways long story short my parents are good and I love them and they love me and now everybody's got the warm fuzzies

we just spent almost 40 minutes discussing the nature of emotion and our experiences of it, our psychological histories, the traumas and repression they experienced from their parents and the ways it impacted my own childhood and emotional makeup, and the neurology of memory and emotion and using mindfulness to rewrite neural pathways
and then we did a guided meditation about holding onto the good - feeling cared for, feeling prized, recognizing your good qualities, and it was surprisingly intense
then they insisted on tucking me in because 'you've been strong for a long time and sometimes it's okay not to be'

I am going to bed now and I am excited to wake up tomorrow and still have excellently witchy green hair
