candle🕯️ @candle

je ne comprends pas

une fille en telefrancais cela dit et je ne comprends pas

ah! je pense c'est comme en anglais nous dit << fiddlesticks >> ou << oh sugar >>

@candle Yes, I didn't know that one I'll write it down! :p

huh... nous nous dit ou nous dit ou ???

@candle Ah ! Je pense QUE c'est comme en anglais, nous DISONS...

@candle "on dit" is the simplest form. "on" REPLACES "nous", and it's conjugated as a 3rd person singular, like he/she/it

@candle probably "comme on dit ..." (<how one says> rather than comme nous disons <how we say>) - the "one" sounds much less Downton Abbey in Fr than in Eng.

@candle
It's an expression, like "Snap", something like that

@candle Ah, sorry - it doesn't SAY anything, it's a very polite "fucking hell" essentially.

"zut" means "damn", "heck"... and "flûte" is used as an euphemism *for that*.

"zut de flûte" is a nice & polite way to express frustration, disappointment or whatever - but without any actual bad word. :<

@candle Bonus: in a Spirou album, when the old Count of Champignac is intoxicated by a bad experiment, he goes rogue and wanders his village in his dressing gown & slippers, assaulting villagers and literally setting up a bomb...

... and telling them ZUT, HAHAHA. Because he's evil, but he's still the Count. %D witches.town/media/fZjJlIoJWVW
