I really miss IM clients having an option to be offline. It was so nice to be able to log on intentionally to talk to people, vs having the expectation that you're always available.

I spent most of my life convinced I was too easily scared for horror movies, but it turns out that I can handle old ones at least, so I am kinda plowing through them rn. It's really fun!

I've been transcribing handwritten notes for literally a month and I'm down to three sides of A4. I'm so close to being done!

Do phones genuinely need to have the headphone port removed to be waterproof? I can see how it would be harder, but there's at least one company making waterproof vibrators that have a standard DC jack. Is that constructed differently or something?

Shoutouts to my dad for making me watch The Wicker Man when I was slightly too young for it, thus cementing it in my mind forever. It's such a good film.

I don't take issue with people remaking classic horror movies, but I wish they'd at least give them different titles. There's nothing more disappointing than thinking, "oh! i've been meaning to watch that!" then seeing the (2005) on the end and being like. oh. i'm alright.

Man, I was expecting this to be entertainingly bad, but it's so impressive how they built that many tiny model buildings to destroy. My childhood love of Godzilla was not misplaced

I was finally well enough to get dressed and type a bit today, and I'm so happy. I love typing and I love wearing day clothes

People being stoic for no reason is my least favourite part of being English. Like, are you really gonna sit there and bottle up your feelings until you're sad from doing that and I'm sad you couldn't talk to me? Why do that!! Use your words!

I always feel kind of bad for hairless cats. Like when people get them little jumpers and stuff so they can stay warm, and it's like, if you'd not bred it to be hairless it could keep itself warm? I am not super in favour of pet breeding in general, tho

And that is to say nothing of Android, where a new device needs to be bought every two years if you want to keep it up to date, which is kind of ridiculous! (Or at least, this was the case when I used android. Maybe it's changed since then - I wouldn't know)

Apple have a metric shitton of problems in the way they build their devices and the way they treat their customers, but they are easy to use. If you can't even see why other people would want that, I feel like you're kind of out of touch.

Expecting every person to learn new skills and do something difficult for ideological reasons is kind of ridiculous, even if the ideology is a good one. Some people are not capable of learning that much about computers, even if they want to. Because of disability, or time constraints, or whatever. Seeing people insist anyone can install & use Linux makes me think they only speak to other people who use Linux.

If you see popular, simple-to-use, proprietary tech and conclude "people are idiots", you are fundamentally out of touch with what people want/need. Should there be straightforward FOSS tech? Yes. Is there? Not as far as I know. Installing Linux Mint took me a day and involved a significant amount of time googling problems & using the terminal. In comparison, starting up my brother's MacBook took 5 minutes. Most people have shit to do, and will pick an option that doesn't get in the way of that.
