@Lapis that did help, thank you! I know a lot of people with autism find it easier to take things literally, so I tried to phrase it like what I actually intended to do, rather than saying "can I look at it" or something. I'll try and be more precise with my wording in future. :)

My CFS isn't even that severe - I can sort of walk places sometimes and get partially dressed most days.
My most frightening experience being queer was coming out to my extremely supportive parents.
My life has been pretty easy in comparison to a lot of people like me and I really, deeply wish everyone had had it as easy as me or easier

I watched a documentary about CFS/ME with my mum and was sort of holding it together but I read that article about it being hard to be queer in the past and just started weeping

It's so much easier to be indignant about other people in shitty life circumstances than it is to be sad about your own. I'm so angry on behalf of everyone with CFS who hasn't been treated and so angry for everyone who has struggled with homophobia

I want all of us to be okay

Sometimes when I talk to my autistic brother he'll answer a question with a ton of sort-of related facts.

Eg:
Me: Mum asked me to sort out your kindle. Is it okay if I touch it?
Him: well you see, the problems with it started last week and... (etc)

He did not tell me if I could touch it.

I find it really confusing, and it makes it a lot harder to help him with his problems.

Is this just a regular autism thing I don't get, or am I phrasing questions wrong, or what?

I had a bunch of shit to do today, but none of it was possible and none of that was my fault, so I get to just kind of sit about and write things, which kind of rules

I was kind of anxious about potentially sleeping badly last night, so shoutout to my brain for making me dream Cocteau Twins music while I slept. It was extremely soothing

@elomatreb it's almost like Chinese whispers! Each generation's idea of what an era was like gets shifted until it doesn't resemble the original era at all any more. Like mythology, except with teens being excited about the 1980s

@elomatreb yeah, I'm really excited to be bewildered by the nostalgia of 2010s kids, like my parents are about 90s stuff!

I can say pretty confidently that Instagram makeup will be a nostalgia thing aesthetically but I have no clue for anything beyond that. The ubiquity of the Internet I guess??

@elomatreb it's really fascinating seeing how people get nostalgic for different parts of different eras - 80s synthpop is such a huge thing, but 90s revival makeup is so much more popular than faux-80s makeup amongst the people I've seen. I always wonder how people decide which aspects of an era define it & are worth mimicking

Anyway I'm listening to techno alone in the dark at 4am and it's great. I will go to bed soon.

Everyone should have healthcare and food and shelter, but not everyone needs to Get the same art. Sometimes sharing a thing with a small group of people who understand completely why it appeals to you can be like, more meaningful than the actual art. Definitely more meaningful than having to explain the appeal to an older relative who does not understand at all

I think we get socialised to believe that sharing art with the widest possible audience is automatically good, but I think sometimes art can benefit from being shared and made for a smaller and more specific audience

@Maenad yeah it's like... I genuinely don't mind if other ppl DO like pegging, it's just the idea that being penetrated = submissive, so if a woman wants to top she has to be the one doing the penetrating. Like, sex doesn't work like that!

I want a browser extension that blocks it every time a straight person makes a joke about a woman liking to peg dudes just because she shows any trace of self confidence. It's so gross
