i just watched the 1995 BBC adaptation of pride and prejudice bc a friend recommended it and it was so charming!! the beeb consistently put out telly about posh white cishets and every single time i am delighted. i don't know why. it's terrible of me.

@ambyrb i think it depends? we are def expected to clean ourselves more than is necessary, but people in the past died a lot from having shitty hygiene.

i read a maybe-biased study which found that scalp problems are more likely the less you wash your hair, and traditional bar soap is significantly more alkaline than human skin is. skin is like pH ~5, soap is like 9. my dry skin went away when i started using low pH skin stuff.

there's probably good middle ground somewhere!

@agaric I just googled it and it looks so pretty!! The last time I tried bookbinding I did the like... standard European way and had to give up because I couldn't get the edges neat, haha. The stab binding looks way more sensible
