in a manic fit i spent 2 hours in the shower shaving all of my body hair. i usually dont shave much at all but i've been feeling so dysphoric lately and ive been trying to work on my appearance. But I have sensitive skin and thick hair so its very tiresome. I have to shape eyebrows and learn how to do makeup better cause im used to lazygoth smoky eye or just eyeliner. Whenever i see advice threads on susans place or whatever the fuck, I just feel bad. Does it ever get easier? cause i want to pull all of my hair out. I hate feeling like this. at least im happy now that I did shave.

@Mirzaba I'm cis (and sorry if this is out of line!) but I had to learn to do regular makeup as a big ol' goth whilst mostly housebound, and if you want I can send you stuff I found helpful about doing makeup/learning to pluck brows? Makeup, at the very least, does get easier

@Mirzaba ok, so with brows i found it helpful to practice brushing them into a shape i liked before i started plucking them. you can buy spoolie brushes, but i just use a cleaned mascara brush.
it hurts a lot the first few times, but if you hold a hot towel/flannel/etc over your eyebrow for a few mins beforehand it doesn't hurt anywhere near so much. the hair root will get used to being pulled out after a few times and it will hurt less and less each time. bear in mind even if you've plucked strays before, it can still hurt if you start plucking hairs you've not plucked before.

@Mirzaba i found it best to pluck only the hairs that were blatantly stray (like, halfway down my browbone) first and leave the shaping until i was used to seeing my brow brushed into shape and cleaned up a little.
if any of your hairs are really long and straggly, it's generally better to trim them than pluck them and potentially leave a weird gap in your brow
for actual shaping, i do it one hair at a time and make sure to check how the brow looks in different mirrors. if you do it slowly you're less likely to overpluck. you can always decide to remove more hairs another day if you need to.

@Mirzaba if you have a lot of hair to remove at once, it might be worth looking into waxing? i've not tried it tho!
for picking a shape, there's a bunch of guides on proportion online. i used this one http://www.paulaschoice.com/expert-advice/makeup-tips/eyes/makeup-tips-tricks-eyebrow-shaping-tweezing-tips.html (which apparently just refreshes if you don't have cookies now...) they are just guides tho, ignore em if they're not helpful

@Mirzaba the thing i struggled w most was colour. you might find this easier cos you do art! one of the biggest things that affects if makeup is flattering on you is the undertone, and it can be hard to find yours. i ended up putting swatches of warm/neutral/cool foundation on my face, seeing how they looked in daylight, & picking the one that clearly looked best (neutral, on me!). i then looked for neutral foundation that was light enough 2 match my face. if you can find foundation that's the right colour for you (even if you don't buy it lol) you can google it, and then look at women the same colour as you and steal their makeup recs.
