Caitlin @c8rz

One of the music players does more or less what I want it to, but it doesn't seem to support .aac and I can't figure out how to make it. Also, it doesn't tell me when something doesn't work, it just goes quiet. I want it to alert me!!

@c8rz What are you looking for specifically? Like a media player with library/full featured playlist support or a single file player?

@elomatreb media player with library and playlist support! My desktop environment came with rhythmbox which is more or less what I want, but it doesn't support all the file types I use

@c8rz The heavy-handed solution is something like mpd/mopidy (I use mopidy).

A somewhat more standard solution is audacious, which I used for a while (But I didn't really use the library feature so I can't speak to the quality of that)

@elomatreb thanks, that's really helpful!

@c8rz mopidy has the advantage of using gstreamer as its backend so if you want to play weird files you can just install the appropriate plugin and it'll work
