It bugs me so much when people complain about the word "queer" being a slur, as if straight people aren't going to use anything we call ourselves as an insult. I've never seen anyone complain about the word "gay", despite the fact that I grew up with it being used as a synonym for "bad".

There will always be people who use the words we call ourselves as insults, as long as there are people who find what we are insulting. Let people call themselves what they want
