I'm still working my way through Lenin's writings. From what I understand a successful communist revolution is to end with the withering away of the state. Leaving local governance to more self-organised groups. I would argue the reason this didn't happen in the USSR is in part the result of the capitalist war waged against it by the west.

I think it will be possible to have a stateless society, but it will require the toppling of the empire. Which is why anti-imperialism is of the utmost importance.
