I'm moving my account over to @benhamill. I don't wanna get into the details, but if you're really interested, I guess DM me over there. I'll import my follows momentarily. A bit sad to go because I love a lot of people on this instance.

Uh. I like to kindpost, I guess. It's a new skill I'm learning, anyway. Also real bad joaks.

I try to learn about intersectional social justice and am trying to develop the habit of taking concrete, real world action about it more often.

I've got a linguistics degree that I don't use professionally (I'm in software), but I love to talk about words and things.

I think play and playfulness are super important. I enjoy roleplaying, board and video games.

I'm a mod on . Ask me if you have questions (though I only speak English, do I'm not much help to our large population of French speakers).

My family afforded me a brief nap today. I dreamed I was playing a game a bit like Journey, but there was voice chat and more people playing together than 2. I fell in with a gang of unbearably cool French anarchist kids who all mostly knew each other IRL. We got to a part where you skate/boarded downhill in twilight and they were doing all sorts of awesome tricks while making up raps about the black block and shit in a mix of English and French. I was amazed they tolerated my presence, but they were so nice.

I'm pretty sure this was a dream about .

I finished reading another book just now and am starting the next one. Remind me to do a mini-review later if I forget.

5000 more accounts until there's a near 1:1 overlap between linguists and queer ppl

@benhamill it probably depends on the screen reader but my understanding is that it reads the name of the character. so it depends on the system but it might be "Blood Type B" or it might be "Negative Squared Latin Capital Letter B"

Another moody ass inspired photo. The moon looks a lot bigger in person, though.

How do screenreaders render shit like "🅱️hold" is that "b emoji hold"?

I wish (and maybe Masto web) had a 3-second delay on sending new posts. Specifically so that I could hit send and be like, "Oh shit! I forgot the alt text on my image!", cancel the send, fix it and send for real.

I wonder how much something like that would reduce people wanting to be able to edit posts.

Just now, I was complaining about people who can't be bothered to type "kubernetes" and instead type "k8s" and how 8 is not a high enough number of characters to elide a la i18n. And then my boss called me, out loud, B1n. So now I'm a Star Wars robot: B1-N.

Seattlites! I’m going to be signing books at the Raygun Lounge next Saturday in your beautiful town! Come play some Mobile Frame Zero demos, chat with me about your games or mine, and have a good, chill time!

Was listening to the Life is Strange: Before the Storm soundtrack walking to the bus this morning (are you noticing a trend?). Even though she's not really in the game, I guess it makes me channel Max. That game was so good and fucking WRECKED me in the best way. My phone camera didn't really capture the light quality, but oh well.

If "If X is so good, how come they never made an X 2?" is so good, how come they never made an "If X is so good, how come they never made an X 2?" 2?

I got the Lego Women of NASA set. It's Sally Ride, Mae Jemison, Margaret Hamilton and Nancy G. Roman with props to do with what they're known for.

Though Hamilton has a stack of books because it's like a picture of her, rather than a computer as one might expect.

Change is the universal aspect of all these sources of story. Story is something moving, something happening, something or somebody changing. -- Ursula K. Le Guin (stolen off Tumblr via M. Christian & others)

Modernist manuals of writing often conflate story with conflict. This reductionism reflects a culture that inflates aggression and competition while cultivating ignorance of other behavioral options. No narrative of any complexity can be built on or reduced to a single element. Conflict is one kind of behavior. There are others, equally important in any human life, such as relating, finding, losing, bearing, discovering, parting, changing. ... (Ursula Le Guin, Con'td Next)
