FINALLY figured out how to get my zsh prompt to indicate whether I'm in insert or command mode (editor = vi). Still can't find the documentation on the module I'm using, but experimentation showed me what I needed. I only discovered the module because I found someone else's dotfiles and they were using it. Thanks for sharing your dotfiles, random internet stranger.

It is below freezing here today and that is too damn cold to walk from the bus to the office. But I did it anyway. Part of me is glad we lent "my" car to another family because it keeps me dedicated to public transit and otherwise I totally would have wimped out this morning. God I hate the cold.

But now it's almost 3am. So I should go to bed instead of reading anarchist stuff online.

Played the second episode of Before the Storm. Started later than was wise. But it's so good. IDK. I don't wanna spoilers it. Also: there was a Love is Strange reference which made be 🤩

Y'all. I just (minorly) hurt myself in the most improbable, clumsy-ass way. I can't even describe it. The serotonin from laughing more or less completely overrode the pain.

Finished the first episode of Life is Strange: Before the Storm. I am such a sucker for navigating decision trees, teen angst and any whiff of young romance.

I really like a lot about this video deconstruction of Life is Strange: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19xgdLF5agU I don't know enough about literary or film stuff to have gotten this playing it myself. I think it's a good example of which criticism exists as a thing: I appreciate Life is Strange now on a new level than I did before. (I still haven't played Before the Storm yet).

Anybody know if Sam Farren is on Mastodon? They wrote the Dragonoak series of which I've only read the first because I continue to hold out hope that the second and third ones will get a paper edition (they're Kindle-only so far). But the first one was incredible and you should read it, especially if you like dragons and ladies kidding ladies and interesting fantasy species.

Lost my zsh config stuff because I messed up pushing it to source control remote before reformatting my harddrive. Not that big of a deal (I use zprezto with just a few non-default modules on) EXCEPT… I have a pretty custom prompt and I'm having to recreate it from scratch. I have a bash version to refer to, but… it's taking a long time.

Now that I think about it, though, babby smells did this, too. Like after-starting-solids poop from changing a diaper or whatever. I always assumed it was because I'd gotten some on me where I didn't notice and so didn't get caught when washing my hands, but maybe it was the same thing?
