@Trev Yeah. I feel this. It's hard to unlearn. But soft, earnest, kind, vulnerable… are better, IMO. Or, anyway, should be more in the mix than men are often taught/allowed to me.
@benhamill I have done a lot of things to my thoughts and behaviors to correct for the ways that I was taught some concept of masculinity as a virtue, but I have always taken a disproportionate pride in my ability to be proud and stark. I realize now that it has lead me to be merciless with people who I want to handle graciously.
I am only now really understanding the best parts of being simple, patient, and compassionate.
