@er1n I've always heard that term in the context of someone situationally switching from their regular dialect to one that's seen as higher prestige.
But also: Same. I ask what's this and say good morning in German regularly. And a small bucket of Spanish, too (hasta mañana, de nada, y unos pequeños más).
