Just now, I was complaining about people who can't be bothered to type "kubernetes" and instead type "k8s" and how 8 is not a high enough number of characters to elide a la i18n. And then my boss called me, out loud, B1n. So now I'm a Star Wars robot: B1-N.

@er1n You could use "kubes"? IDK… I just find that specific way of abbreviating things really annoying because it's so antagonistic to new folks picking up the jargon.
@er1n It also makes it sound like you're talking about your friend with a weird nickname. "Oh, dude. Did you hear what happened to Kubes? Almost got hit by a car biking to work the other day. Some asshat on their cellphone!" 😜
@benhamill @er1n at work, kubectl is canonically known as "kc", so when you're speaking it talks like you have a friend named Casey who is going to make some changes to your cluster's configuration.
