@benhamill Ouch. I'm not sure I would have had such restraint in that situation. But you're right in that the best approach is *probably* somewhere between an intellectual smackdown & complete inaction.
(I had similar woes with my niece over the holidays; had to try to Say Something without Creating A Scene. Erred on the side of caution.)
@Qwyrdo Yeah. One other factor that pushed me that way is that the workshop provides free(!!!) childcare for the duration. So blowing out the meeting schedule with an argument is really disrespectful to those folks' time. In another context, I might have basically tried to draw aggro and kited him away from others. Not really an option in this case. Ah well.
@pettter We can. We don't really want to be exclusionary if we can avoid it, but we can. We'll see if he becomes a continuing problem or not. He was clearly unhappy with what the group was, so he may self-select out. IDK.

As a side note: The level of conversational sexism among the white men I've met trying to do anti-racism work is sort of astounding to me. Compared to, like, meetings at work and stuff. Talking over or not listening to women, mostly. I'm still trying to develop the habit of explicitly making space for women to talk, to be sure. But… wow.
