Why is there 🉑 but not reject or deny or... inverse? Like... the short version is surely "historical reasons to do with non-coordinating Japanese telecoms", but how was that not corrected at some point? Bleh.
@benhamill it's 🈲 isn't it?
@amphetamine I have no idea. The shortcode for that one is u7981, which is just a unicode codepoint or something? Doesn't help ol' monolingual me.
@benhamill oh strange
it's 禁 which just means to forbid
@amphetamine Ah! That seems like the right thing. I wish it had a better shortcode. I wonder why it doesn't... 🤔
@benhamill yea yk i dunno
they're not symbols i use except by writing them, but here's the list of han character emojos in my IME:
🈷️🈶🈯🉐🈹🈚🈲🉑🈸🈴🈳㊗️㊙️🈺🈵
@amphetamine Pffft. Someone clearly dropped the ball on those shortcodes. It's got accept, secret, congratulations in there... and "ideaograph_advantage" which... doesn't match the naming scheme of any of the others. And the rest are, like, someone just said, "IDK. Screw it, no one will use these anyway" or some bullshit. Frustrating. I wonder where those come from... I'll do some research.
@amphetamine Also: Thanks for your perspective on this. I really appreciate it.
