Meta question: any progress on getting better privacy options? I want to post selfies but I won't until I can restrict it to mutuals (on servers that maintain privacy settings on toots)
@aprrrl We really need the idea of instance alliances or circles or whatever word. Your admin saying "I trust this other instance to obey X" and then a setting to federate some stuff only to that circle of instances.
@aprrrl Yeah. A "do not federate" setting.
I have then idea about separating "privacy" into two controls: "federation setting" and "boostability setting" or whatever better words.
But that seems like a terrible thing to have to explain to someone in a UI.
@benhamill I would be happy to start with just "on the same server" like followers-only toots of old
