So I see people on The Sabbath (the #WitchesTown local feed) talking about tarot readings. And one thing about tarot, right(?), is that sometimes cards you draw may be upside down (called "reversed"). I think shit like Magic: The Gathering, Android: Netrunner and Dominion have trained me so hard to shuffle in a way such that all the cards consistently have their top pointed the same direction... I'd have to RELEARN how to shuffle so they'd get mixed up in order to ever have reversed cards. I don't plan on getting into tarot or anything, but... just something I was thinking about.
@benhamill that's the thing with tarot, you don't purposefully do this (at least i don't in my practice)
i shuffle normally without paying attention either way and sometimes, every now and then, a card is upside down. don't know why, things just tend to happen.
@punsandpotions I remember learning to shuffle so that my cards didn't have that happen. Now I don't remember how I shuffled before. The other day, I was trying to demonstrate it to someone for unimportant reasons and I couldn't actually do it. 🤷 Muscle memory is weird.
