FYI, they use little pellets in the blankets, which I like because I enjoy the extra texture and to roll them around inside the quilted squares. But if you want a perfectly smooth blanket, this isn't the way to go.

@whami Exactly. Also, some people have a lot of difficult memories around family holidays like birthdays. To force folks into being "on" in a group setting when they have specifically requested not to is bad enough. When it's potentially a triggering situation and the request is still ignored, it's even worse.

@whami Oh geeze, I get that too. It took _years_ of arguing with my former boss to convince him that I really, truly do not want to be thanked in public, in any way. Got to the point where I once took the entire week of my birthday off, just to keep from having to go to a big all-staff lunch "in my honor." After that, he finally left it alone.

HR here is...earnest, mostly. And seems to largely equate appreciation with food. Which I can't eat.

How to turn me into a curmudgeon in the space of two sentences:
"To celebrate National Employee Appreciation Day, Human Resources will be 'popping-by' every building on campus, including off-campus locations, to recognize employees on Friday, March 2. More information to come."
Their attempts at appreciation have not been appreciated in the past. Maybe I'll take the day off.
Iron Chef Battle Breakfast where the competitors are sleep deprived and haven't had coffee yet, so nobody is allowed to use knives.
@Lapis Oh, I worded that badly. Same day is ok, just space them out. I have to take both, but one's with my breakfast pills and the other with lunch.
@Lapis Just in case you hadn't thought of it: If you've got potassium to add to the magnesium, do _not_ take them at the same time unless you have problems with constipation.
@masu It was! And something of an oddity, apparently--the church they usually used was under repair. Which is a shame, because like all old churches, the acoustics are pretty darn nice.
