@DialMforMara Aaand I've totally side-tracked from the point of your post. Apologies. It would totally be cool to see a story about that.
@DialMforMara You can hear the current chord on the official website, btw: http://www.aslsp.org/de
It's different in person, though. The sound fills you after a while. Not due to volume--it was surprisingly quiet--but simply because your whole body will start to vibrate to the sound.
@DialMforMara Whoever told you that was wrong. I was in Halberstadt a few months after the last chord change, and that one's still going--the next chord change is in 2020. The piece did start with something like an 18 month rest, though.
@RussSharek I don't doubt it. I've got a frame of reference for the musicians--was briefly a music minor, so I can take the time it took for me to get to that level and extrapolate. But things like the Russian bar act just boggle my mind. All three of them have to be so well-trained individually, and then the time it takes to learn to coordinate....
The things people can do with their bodies just astounds me every damn time. So much strength, flexibility, skill, and grace on that stage tonight.
Here's the Cirque Musica troupe: https://www.instagram.com/p/BeVjDrelkAA/?taken-by=okc_phil (tho the little girl didn't put in an appearance tonight)
And as usual, our philharmonic sounded wonderful. Can't help but ponder how many collective hours of practice was on the stage at the final bow.
@Ormur I never would've guessed that bluegrass would appeal anywhere outside the US (and I say that as someone who enjoys the genre). Does it sound similar to native Norwegian folk music?
@ghost Not many have been sold, that I've noticed. So hopefully....
I have Concerns about the flashing-light-embedded tambourines being sold before the show.
@babelcarp Not to mention the possibility of rust. Yuck.
@Ormur Norwegian bluegrass?!?!
Y'all, I am so, so excited to get to see this tonight: http://www.okcphil.org/cirque
Acrobats! *squeeeee!*
@compostablespork Hopefully there are fluids involved, too. 😉
Was about to get up for another mug of tea, but I don't want to scare off the downy woodpecker on the suet feeder.
@noelle *fistbump* Got my first email account in fall of 1992. And can remember reading things on Usenet, but don't recall ever posting.
Will be getting together with a friend in...just over three hours, but in the meanwhile am thoroughly enjoying this quiet morning.
@babelcarp Cast iron. The inside's coated. The outside's painted.
My attention wandered at just the wrong moment and so nearly overflowed the teapot. That would've been a mess.
