@photopuck Luckily, feeding the birds takes all of ~45 seconds. 😀 As long as I put on real shoes (slipper soles are too thin for standing on concrete at that temp) and a hat, I'm ok.

@lauraritchie Oh! Forgot to say: buckwheat and chocolate were made for each other. Seriously amazing flavor combo.

How many layers of clothing do I need to be wearing before I can briefly step outside to feed the birds?

@lauraritchie I haven't attempted it yet, but I've a sneaking suspicion that this recipe would make mighty fine brownies: nigella.com/recipes/triple-cho

A friend made those cookies for me and they were absolutely fabulous! But cookies just take a bit more oomph than I usually have.

@_knives_out_ @GucciPiggy I've not seen her elsewhere, no. But since she recently bought a new house, she might not have checked Masto since toot.cat went down.

@whami Sad that she's gone, but how neat that you got to see her so frequently for a while! Must've had a nest nearby. Maybe some other hawk will find the same location to her taste someday.

@Sparrow Not vegan this time (eggs), but yeah, it's always tricky to make equivalents when the "original" version is almost completely due to ingredients that have to be left out. Mostly I don't even try.

@Sparrow A gluten-free, dairy-free cornbread. Turned out really nice!

Retweeting Twitter posts on Mastodon is like moving to another town to get away from your ex, but your mom keeps sending you his Instagram posts.

@masu Yup, me too. Background noise is distracting at best. And so, so many restaurants are noisy. *sigh*

@Sparrow At the moment, I'm busy being jealous of all that sleep! 😁

Did some laundry earlier, read a while, birdwatching off and on, and about to pull some experimental baking out of the oven.

Hawk! Likely a juvenile red-tail, but this is the first clear photo i've gotten and am not sure. (juvenile hawks look a lot alike, and i've not gotten a good look in flight to check wing shape)

@Dalmaty They're definite favourites of mine, too. So cute!

Juncos don't sit still, but there's a small flock mostly hanging out in my back yard. Even when none are on the porch, I can hear them poking around in the leaves off to the side.

@mxsparks Totally understandable. That shouldn't be happening! Lawn grass goes dormant even if it stays warm. So that person may be watering too much, so the grass hasn't gone dormant. Or, they've got a yard full of other weeds that haven't gone dormant yet.

@Lapis *nods* Sounds like you're making a good and careful start.

Am guessing someone's already told you this, but just in case not: A thing that helped me was to remember that it doesn't have to be an argument in the sense that we normally use that word. It can be more of "Hey, lookit this cool thing I thought of, that's a combination of things these other folks came up with." So you're extending the conversation. Also, that's why your sense of "not enough material" might be pointing in the _right_ direction. All you need is a niche in the building of all Mayan scholarship. (Also, makes for easier/shorter lit review!)

@Altruest Hmmm...that may be just the push I needed to try tootdon. Thanks!
