Today's tasks Afficher plus

Today I have to hygiene & do shopping.

But I really also want to do something crafty. Like putz at the one pair of breeches I have nearly finished.

Especially with more fabric on the way, I feel significant internal pressure to use up some of what I have already.

One problem is that I'm a little scruffy, but not enough where shaving is wise?

I've gotten a lot more comfy with my whiskers over the years, but I still get nervous about being in public with visible scruff.

Not like *anyone* around here pays attention. (Since I got laser it's mostly white hair anyway, so not *super* obvious…)

@Qwyrdo Totally feel you on the being-in-public-while-scruffy. So very self-conscious about it. *sigh*

@auntiekiki Yeah… it feels like such a big "tell". Even with plenty of cis women around who have facial hair.

NGL, being nonbinary, I get a certain amount of satisfaction projecting a genderphucque presentation; but RN I look pretty androgynous as baseline, so in my brain the scruff is one clue too many.

But so is razor burn. 🙃

@Qwyrdo Razor burn's half of why I stick with electric razors. (Very shaky hands being the other half.)

I'm enby and afab, and tend toward a neutral-ish presentation (very short hair, no makeup, neutral palate for clothing, but fem-leaning scarves and jewelry). Since I live in a very conservative place, I've noticed the addition of scruff tends to up the neg-reaction-from-strangers quotient significantly. *sigh*
