It looks like the weather for our big mountain trip is taking a turn for the good-god-no. As in, summit actual highs of -11 F (-24 C) with a wind chill of -44 F (-42 C).

I'm glad to defer to common sense and safety, and also bummed in a really deep way. My heart had jumped up at the thought of getting above tree line again.

We live in the land of waterfalls and lush forests. Our summits are cleared patches overlooking farmland.

I crave big mountains. This coming year, I will go.
