Gundam AGE is an alternate timeline where the One Year War (the conflict most Gundam revolves around) didn't happen. the UE (Unknown Enemy I think) pilot these advanced suits, that had thumbs for pinkies and shifted between biped and plane/dragon forms. The show heavily implied they were aliens for a while, but NOPE, just a forgotten martian colony that didn't sign the "let's stop developing weapons" treaty.
