impeachment, though, would be a huge expenditure of energy for little benefit

I'd rather Dems use that energy on obstruction and extracting useful concessions

right now there are factions vying for control among Republicans; impeachment of Trump would consolidate that power in the evangelical/traditional wing and they'd be more effective

while I get the thinking behind this, I am personally of the opinion that a Republican who's known for playing by "old rules" is a known quantity that's less unpredictable, and that's a desirious state compared to President Impulse Control Man

Personally I'm more worried about Congress and want to keep them occupied
