Omg I have a RL friend who wants to start a coven with me!
We both have a pretty agnostic approach to mysticism. For instance, I love tarot as a tool for getting me to think about things in new ways. The magic of divination and ritual for me is in the way they rearrange information, emotion, and perspective.
Any suggestions for where to start? I think what we're trying to get out of it is deeper connection to each other, to ourselves, and exploring our connection to the world

@aprrrl Sounds like you're on the right path, to me! Though I can't claim to be an expert or anything.
One thing I do is try to cultivate powerful selves for me to deal with life. A way to hug my dark child, a way to bring my matronly side out, a way to bring my ability to deal with the world. But my path is a bit unusual I think!

I can still name different aspects of self, but I feel unitary these days

@aprrrl huh, interesting! it sounds a bit like my hybrid approach, trying to combine a sense of mystery and wonder with a controlled scepticism and materialistic view of "magic" in terms of psychology and semiotics. I'm hacking away at this without much guidance so far, though, so I think it's cool that you've found a kindred spirit. These things are always better with a community, even if it's just one other friend :]
back when dabbling in Wicca &c. long ago I was involved with a couple covens and got kinda disillusioned, so I'm not sure what advice I can offer there...don't get too elaborate too early, maybe?
