Any Linux desktop devs I could, at least hypothetically, pay to write open-source software to my design specs?

I'm at least half serious. I'm good at writing design specs. I have a small but steady budget, and I *need* certain pieces of software.

Debugging takes focus-time, though, and I have maybe a handful of hours per week, and I still haven't established a healthy working relationship with a desktop dev environment.

When you start, it's an FPS.

When you get a grasp enough of the language and the locals, you have the option to switch to a turn-based tactical interface. You can switch back and forth freely.

Eventually, you might have a home in the town. You can play the game this way forever if you want.

You can go further.

it's like I still romanticize the idea of community built by shared proximity even though most of my friends live out of state

the mind is its own place etc. etc. but I have always had this intense yet abstract longing to 'belong' in a specific place

and most of the time that 'place' has been some corner of the internet, which I guess is why mastodon appealed to me as well, even though I still barely feel like I'm interacting here with any competence
