Still kind of disappointed with how Steven Universe (the show, not the kiddo) avoids the topic of humans so much.
Like, I get that it's a kids show and that the aliens are cooler and whatever, but you expect me to believe that the earth was completely reshaped by gems and humans decided to make boring cities and live boring lives when there are like, ruins to explore and inhabit? Ancient artifacts and technology to study? Vast hordes of monsters to slay?
Don't mind me, I'm just crying over how many people have poured their time and energy into YouTube videos to help offer high quality educational content for free to the masses ;o;

These are often startup marketing ploys to confuse the community and solicit free labour/PR on proprietary products.
If you need an "API key" to use some superficially "open source" code, then that's a strong red flag. Avoid!
An exception to this rule: https://github.com/GIScience/openrouteservice-app/ DOES have an open backend. They're fine, AFAICT! 😄

Related to this, unpaid labor in academia is a HUGE issue.
I want to pay this kid because I am benefiting from his work, but without a grant, it would be out of pocket (I applied for a grant so that I can pay him and others like him).
The people who can afford to work for free are people who are privileged enough to not have to work several dozen hours each week for money to support themselves.
Stop reinforcing this privilege.
